About Business
I am an independent patient advocate, specializing in medical navigation. My specific skill set (cancer researcher, microbiologist, university lecturer, consultant to medical device and pharma companies) provides me with the expertise that is somewhat unique to this profession.
My goal with my clients is to educate them regarding their diagnosis, to support them in getting the best and most appropriate medical care, and to empower them to take an active part in their care. My services include accompanying my clients to doctor appointments, ensuring that good communication exists among the providers, and assisting in decision-making regarding treatment options, choice of practitioners, and when and if to seek a second (or third) opinion. I also facilitate hospital admissions and discharges and oversee my clients' care while they are hospitalized to help avert medical errors.
Unlike many others in my profession, I only take on a limited number of clients at a time in order to devote as much time as needed for each one. I am passionate about what I do, and believe that everyone can obtain better medical care with a patient advocate at their side. No one with a serious medical condition should be required to navigate the health care system on their own when they are overwhelmed and at their most vulnerable . I am here to provide the support and expertise needed at this time.
